Summer Cocktail Contest: Salon.com announces results
Call to Arms August 17th, 2007
Michael Dietsch, of A Dash of Bitters, has the rundown on and was lucky enough to be a judge for the Salon.com Summer Cocktail Contest. You can read the results here and, I must say, I’m impressed by the sophistication of apparent entries (based on the winners). It seems I was apparently shamefully outclassed with my entry as I went with something very Summery but fairly low brow. Let us never speak of it again; but drink it, why hell yes.
I’m personally eager to give the gin and rum entries a shot, the others leave me a bit cold.

Im the creator of the Rum winner..The Glacier Park. I had absolutely NO experience as a bartender before that summer in 1980, but that is not unusual when hiring college age kids in a National Park. I just knew what I liked taste-wise, and the Galiano was really added in an attempt to get people snockered so they would buy more drinks! To my surprise it was a hit. I hope you enjoy it!
Congrats Corie! That’s pretty impressive, looks like you’ve come a long way. I’ll have to do a post on it once I try it out. Hopefully Michael will also post some impressions and/or his experiences in the tasting process. Thanks for stopping by!
