Get Your Chat On: Rum
Get Your Chat On, Metablogging August 19th, 2008
As part of a larger cocktailian social experiment myself and other cocktail bloggers have been developing concepts around centralizing our influence, interests, and information into a central repository and resource. This new resource is called The Mixoloseum and our first public event will take place next Monday night at 9pm EDT.
The primary subject will be rum, its use in cocktails, and selection considerations. We’ll also be giving time to cachaca, rhum agricole, and how the production processes differ between them and their various brands. Here’s the press release:

I can’t believe:
a) You used a marquee tag
b) It actually works in Safari
c) You scheduled the talk on a Monday night at midnight my time – I suppose it’s my fault for living in the future though.
Also, I think we should petition Ann so that Rick crushing bottles of vodka with his mind be a session at Tales next year.
I guess I have to be there then, since you put me in the press release. Who can’t crush vodka bottles with their mind? I thought every cocktail blogger had this ability?
Jay: Hellz yes I used a < marquee > tag AND a < blink > tag, but unfortunately the blink function is no longer recognized by tasteful browsers. Why the marquee is is beyond me, but I had to give it a try.
As for the scheduling, yes, it’s a damned shame for our European compatriots and I hope you’re able to make it or at least the pre-show. Rick’s performance art piece titled ‘Shaken, with text’ should be particularly compelling.
However, Rick:
I believe I’ve indemnified myself with the footnote I’ve included re: your potential appearance OR absence and the possible impact on a cat in a box with a decaying radium atom.
I’m so pleased that this will eventually come up when future employers do a Google search on my name…
Then again, who wouldn’t want an employee who could crush vodka with his mind?
I’ll be in Sao Paulo, but I’ll try my darnedest to join in!
Thanks, Phil! You bring a lot to the table and we’d be honored to have you there and participating.
