Great post; totally and completely right on. Maine Root is rocking my world right now. I have been searching for the right ginger beer since Virgil's stopped making one. Before that, Stoney Tangawazi in East Africa was my favorite.

I am just so glad Maine Root is doing what they do.

Love your site. Living in NYC i'm fortunate to find about anything I want. Having worked in Bermuda I can tell you that a Dark and Stormy in Hamilton beats the shit outta having one in Denver in January. All things have their places. Also, the Regatta guy was hired by Barrits to make their GB until he was fired. Litigation, I understand, continues.

I love the Stewart's Ginger Beer but for some reason we can't find it in Cincinnati anymore. I used it for the same thing, Dark N Stormies.

Gabriel,
I agree with your assessment of a traditional Dark and Stormy, Barritts and Goslings. It's an unfortunate pairing of brands. Barritts is way too sweet and Goslings is way too smooth. The strong vanilla notes in Goslings combined with the HFCS of Barritts left me feeling like I needed to shave my tongue. On the the other hand, Meyers and Regatta or Maine Root has enough acidity and bite to make the cocktail work.
