Blu Cigs Blu Cigs has long been a staple to the e-cig community. They haven't changed the actual e-cig product itself much since being released early on in 2009. However, they have great social features that allow you to find fellow users and also recently switched to a "tank" system to improve the experience.

If you are looking for an electronic cigarette that won’t break your bank account, Blu eCigs could be a good choice for you. With a reasonable investment of $69.95, you can get their entire starter kit with everything you need. Blu has been featured in numerous headlines since tobacco manufacturer Lorillard bought them out and made some big improvements to their product line and advertising.

They also made big changes in flavor thanks to a partnership with Johnson Creek Smoke Juice. They are working together to provide ecig smokers with unique flavored nicotine liquid that is compatible with the Blu cartridge refills. Blu is setting a higher standard with their flavored solution made in the USA, while most of their competitors sell solutions made in China.

One of the most popular features for Blu is the charger pack that comes with their newest kits. This is a little carrying case that fits in your pocket and charges your e-cig batteries on the go. You just place your battery in the charging slot and the Blu pack will charge it up for you while you go about your daily routine. So essentially, there is no need to plug in your actual e-cig. Just put it back in your charger pack and it’s always fully charged and ready to go.

Each of the Blu batteries can be recharged up to six times before you need to buy a new one. The Blu battery is easy to spot because it has a blue light on the tip instead of the typical orange or red light featured by most brands.

There are tons of celebrities that use Blu ecigs. You can do a quick google search and find photos of celebs like Leonardo DiCaprio and Lindsay Lohan puffing on a Blu Cig. The company even sponsored a car in the NASCAR Spring Cup Series.

We recently tested a couple of Blu’s newest kits to see how they have improved and where they should be ranked on our updated e-cig reviews. The first kit we tried was the Blu Premium Pack, available online for $79.95. This kit includes a charger pack with social features, 2 batteries, 5 cartridges in the flavor and strength you prefer, a wall charger, and a USB charger.

The Premium pack’s social feature is really cool. You hit a button to turn on this feature and if you get close to another Blu ecig user with a social pack, you will see your pack light up and vibrate. This is a great way to find other vapers in a big crowd and could even be a good conversation starter at a party.

The Premium pack is about the size of a pack of cigarettes, but maybe a little thinner. It easily fits in my pocket and I like that I can charge my battery when I’m on the go. You don’t have to actually screw in the battery or anything. Just sit it in the charging slot and close the pack. After a couple seconds, the indicator light on the side will light up to let you know that your battery is charging.

The batteries in this kit are so small! Once I assembled my e-cig, I was surprised to see tha thte Blu ecig is about the size of an actual cigarette, much smaller than the typical ecig that I see from other brands.

I also tried the Blu Premium100 Kit, which is a little more expensive at $89.95. It’s a good choice if you want longer battery life. It comes with the Premium 100 social pack, 2 batteries, 5 cartridges in your choice of flavor and nicotine strength, a USB charger, and a wall charger.

Blu offers refill cartridges in seven flavors: Classic Tobacco, Magnificent Menthol, Cherry Crush, Vivid Vanilla, Pina Colada, and Peach Schnapps. Nicotine strengths range from 0 to 16mg. I tried a couple of different flavors and thought they were all pretty decent.

The tobacco flavor is pretty close to the taste of cigarette tobacco. It reminded me of a discount cigarette brand with a milder taste than more robust tobacco flavors. It has the strongest vapor production of their cartridge line. My favorite Blu flavor is Cherry Crush. It’s by far the best cherry cartridge I’ve ever tried with a sweet, fresh taste that is just perfect. The Java Jolt was also delicious. It tasted just like a cup of coffee, but it was well balanced and had decent vapor production.

The only Blu flavor I didn’t enjoy was the Magnificent Menthol. The flavor was just too mild for me. It wasn’t even really menthol… just a hint of mint. The vapor production was way too slight for my taste and there was just no throat hit at all. It had to be primed a lot and I just didn’t enjoy using this one. I wouldn’t buy it again.

Ultimately, I think Blu eCigs is a strong brand that is going to continue to be a crowd favorite. They have some really good flavor options and I love their social pack feature! No one else in the industry is doing that and it sets them apart as cutting edge. While I don’t think Blu is the best brand out there, I think they are still a contender in the Top 10. I would just recommend that you buy your Blu products online to get cheaper prices.

If you know the cherry disposables and are an avid user, 2 disposables a day, then you will know where I’m coming from with this review. The taste of the cherry is very inconsistent. Sometimes you hear that crackle the first inhale, and right from there you can tell if the flavor is full or not. I feel like sometimes the new white packaging have better tasting ones than black packaging cherry. But then sometimes the black packaging taste fresher than the new white. I don’t get it. It’s hit or miss. I donno if these things can get stale or whatnot but I know they taste different every time. Sometimes the battery will die after two puffs, sometimes it will last a whole day.

Been a Blu smoker for almost 3 months now. I smoke the premium 100s high nicotine. At first, they lasted long, 1 cartridge would last almost a whole day (I am a pack and a half a day smoker). The last 4 weeks, the cartridges seem to only last approx 5 hours before they don’t provide any taste at all and minimal vapor. I have also been getting approx 1 “dud” cartridge per pack ordered. The consistency is all over the place and has me weary and thinking of switching. When I called to complain about the 1 dud cartridge per pack they told me too bad.

I started out loving blu but it appears the standar are changing. Has anyone else noticed the cartridges don’t last anywhere near as long as they used to?

Excellent product. Great starter kit, phenomenal flavors, good batteries, all great for the money. My only problem with the product is that the batteries begin to wear out rather quickly; in both the pack AND the cigs. However, I have heard that the premium version fixes this problem; but I won’t risk blowing 70 clams on a new starter kit after only 2-2 and a half months with the original. Overall, the kit is excellent; well worth the cash. Nice rich vapor, tasty flavors, and the most convenient charging case on the market. If you’re stuck at the shop choosing, I highly recommend this one if you’re a starter.

I have to agree with JB’s review. I used these to quit smoking for about four months and have since (sadly) gotten back on the wagon. I found that unless I was constantly charging my other battery as soon as it died, that by the time I went through a fresh battery, the old one would not hold a charge and I would have to wait hours before I had working batteries again (I received two in my starter pack). The cartridges did not last long at all, and I found that they would lose vapor and flavor after only half a day or so, meaning I burnt through the cartridges very quickly. Might be a good product for an occasional or non-smoker who isn’t using them as a crutch in order to quit, but I have tried friends’ e-cigarettes since (Greensmoke was my favorite so far), and found I liked them better – more vapor, stronger sense of actually smoking than Blu.
The most positive thing I can say about them is that the flavors are really great, especially the coffee and vanilla. Even the cherry flavor, which I expected to be horrible, was pretty great.

I’ve tried several different brands and I really wish I could say Blu is the best. As far as taste goes, Cherry Crush is my favorite flavor of any e-cig I’ve ever had, no contest. The problems with Blu are many.

    1) Short battery life. If you are going out for the day, you will need to take 4 batteries to possibly make it through. The pack re-charges one at a time and can only car two. This means you will have 2 in your pocket dying away as you walk around. Battery is so sensitive that if you touch it, it will turn on. Imagine how fast it wastes away in your pocket!

2)Batteries are VERY low quality. I’ve been through almost a dozen in a exactly a year. You read that correctly. These things have a lifetime of roughly 2-3 months and are done. At $12.95 to replace, you do the math to figure out how much you are saving.

    3)Cartridges don’t last long. I go through a pack of 5 in 3 days.

I wish I could stick with this brand but the problems are so abundant, I can’t justify it. I’ve spent more money on these than I ever should have to and I didn’t switch to Blu b/c of money, it was my health. But it’s become so irritating and expensive I’m forced to switch brands. Be warned.
