From the day I was born I’ve been around cigarette smoke. My mother smoked, as well as several relatives and as we got older, my sister took up smoking. So naturally I did too. There never seemed to be any problem with smoking and when the government started coming out with the warnings on the cigarette packs it just seemed like something they had to do, along with all the other warnings that were posting about foods and things we use every day.
I started hearing about electronic cigarettes and it sounded ridiculous. How could some electronic gadget replace smoking? Even when my father had died from smoking complications, and it didn’t faze us because he had been a firefighter so it could have just as well been all the smoke he had inhaled over the years. Following in his footsteps, I also became a firefighter and still didn’t realize that I was poisoning myself with these cigarettes that I smoked, day after day after day.
A routine physical detected a spot on my lungs and it was then I realized that maybe it was the cigarettes. Unsure and scared I asked the doctor if he had any suggestions and electronic cigarettes were the first thing that he mentioned. I thought they were only sold online until a friend mentioned that she had been getting them in a convenience store for $20.
As I stood at the counter paying $20 for my first electronic cigarette setup, I realized that the cost was a lot less expensive than paying almost $10 a day for pack of cigarettes. I was absolutely shocked at how well electronic cigar. Electronic cigarettes were able to replace my pack a day cigarette habit and how little craving I had for real a cigarette.
I am so converted that I managed to convert a few other people as well. I’m also a lot healthier and being near people that smoke and smelling that odor really actually makes me sick. I can’t imagine how I could have been stupid enough to put all those chemicals in my body all those years. I’m grateful my doctor recommended I try electronic cigarettes and I have become a devoted advocate of converting everyone I know from smoking tobacco filled, cancer-causing cigarettes to electronic cigarettes.
I have truly been amazed to have so many people tell me how grateful they are when I tell them about electronic cigarettes and they decide to give them a try. If only everyone would open their eyes and start using them maybe we could make this whole country a lot healthier.
