Each time we review a new electronic cigarette brand, we look for something unique that sets that brand apart. The marketplace is saturated with many companies selling the exact same e-cig products with the only difference being branding. NicStick Electronic Cigarettes definitely offer a unique spin on the typical e-cig experience.
This is the first company we’ve reviewed that makes the fairly new tank cartridge system a standard, and that is the refreshing unique factor we crave. Before we get into the specifics of our NicStick review, let’s take a minute and talk about tank cartridges and why they are different from typical e-cigarettes.
Get to Know the Tank System
Tank cartridges don’t have any filler material inside them. Instead, they hold only e-liquid. The atomizer inserts through a small opening in the cartridge so the liquid is heated directly. This does wonders for flavor as filler materials can create impure tastes.
We do have a few tips if you’re new to using tanks: First of all, any time you use a three-piece e-cig we recommend “burning off” the atomizer before inserting the cartridge. This means puffing on the e-cig without the cartridge for a while until the vapor is minimal. When atomizers are shipped separately from cartridges, they are coated with a liquid that keeps them from drying out. Unfortunately that liquid sometimes tastes funny so we like to get rid of it before using the e-cig.
Second and more importantly, make sure you don’t remove the inner cap on the cartridge. You’ll have to take off the rubber stopper that covers the cartridge but there is a smaller rubber piece inside that needs to stay put. When I first used a tank cartridge, I accidentally pulled out the inner cap with the rubber stopper. Big mistake! When I started puffing on the e-cig, I sucked nearly all of the e-liquid into my mouth. This experience is pretty terrible so please don’t make the same mistake I did.
Overall, the tank system is a great choice especially if you are experienced with e-cigs and want to really take your vaping experience up a notch. Once you get used to the tank system, it’s hard to go back.
Taking NicStick for a Test Drive
We decided to try out several of NicStick kits to get a better feel for their quality. They have so many different kinds of vaping kits and accessories that there was no way we could just pick one!
The first kit we tried was the NicStick Tank EGO, which sells for $62.99. The kit came in a really nice package with a clear window on the front. The kit included a ton of products for a reasonable price so we give NicStick credit for affordability! When I opened the kit, it included 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, 5 prefilled cartridges, a soft black velvet carrying case, a wall adapter, an a USB charger. Everything was black and had a sleek, uniform design. NicStick also included a brochure that showcased all of their products with nice photos and descriptions.
When I tried the NicStick Tank EGO, the first thing I noticed was the safety switch. That’s a nice feature because it insures your e-cig doesn’t come on if you unintentionally hit the power button while it’s in your pocket. To unlock the safety switch, I clicked the power button four times and then it came to life.
As I started vaping, I noticed there was also an automatic cut-off. After a few seconds of drawing in, it automatically shut off to prevent you from getting too much nicotine at once. I tried three different flavors: tobacco, menthol, and blueberry. The tobacco flavor was my favorite with a classic tobacco taste that was well balanced and not too heavy. The menthol flavor was on the minty side, but it would be a good choice for someone who enjoyed analog menthol lights. The blueberry flavor was really true to its name and tasted like a handful of blueberries.
Next, we tried the Sirius Deluxe Kit. It’s a more traditional e-cig kit priced at an affordable $26.99. This is more of an “express kit” with just the absolute minimum supplies to get started with vaping. It included 2 batteries, 2 prefilled cartomizers, and a USB charger. The 300x batteries are long lasting so you can recharge your e-cig over and over.
The Sirius Deluxe Kit comes in either black or white. Both have a blue tip and look more like a traditional cigarette. The Sirius kit was packaged nicely with a display window and everything was sealed in plastic to maintain freshness. Like many e-cigs, this one needs to be primed to get decent vapor production. The good news is that once you get it rolling vapor production is fine. This kit came with Tobacco Mix flavored cartomizers with 2.4% nicotine. I would compare the taste to a full flavored cigarette. It’s pretty intense and would be a good fit for smokers who enjoy Marlboro Reds. The vapor production is solid and pretty similar to our highly rated Premium and V2.
Last, we tried the NicStick EGO Gift Set. This was the most expensive kit at $79.95, but it was a great value because it’s packed with tons of products. Our kit was packaged beautifully and everything matched with a sleek black design. As we pulled out all the contents, this is what was included: 2 batteries, 2 Tank EGO atomizers, 1 bottle of e-liquid (10ml), 5 prefilled Tank cartridges, 1 large carrying case, a USB charger, a car adapter, and a wall adapter.
Of all of the NicStick kits I tried, the EGO Gift set was my favorite. The e-liquid is really smooth and has a good easy draw. It gave me a lot of satisfying, thick vapor, but the throat hit wasn’t so overwhelming that I was coughing constantly. The only downside to this kit is the three piece design. Some people just don’t want to mess with the hassle of separate atomizers and cartridges. If you don’t want to use the prefilled cartridges, you will have to use the e-liquid to do refills, but it’s pretty easy to do with the EGO.
Overall, NicStick is a really solid brand with a lot of great products. While these e-cigs won’t be for everyone, they are a great choice for vapers who want something unique. NicStick offers beautiful design, good flavors, satisfying vapor production, and an overall more advanced vaping experience.
