Tell FDA: No Regulating E-Cigs Tell FDA: No Regulating E-Cigs

The Food and Drug Administration has been putting a lot of effort into prohibiting the sales and use of electronic cigarettes. For lovers and enthusiasts of e-cigs, the idea of Federal regulation has remained a constant and looming threat. It is the FDA’s intention to classify and regulate electronic cigarettes as tobacco products. The shaky reasoning behind this is that nicotine is derived from tobacco, so while you aren’t actually smoking tobacco, the government still wants to treat you like you are. If this goes through, we will likely see our beloved smokeless cigarettes being taxed at the same rates as traditional analog cigarettes. There is also a good chance that all web-based sales will be shut down, resulting in fewer options available to the public.

However, there is still hope. Over the past two months, the FDA has been holding hearings and accepting comments from e-cig users and supporters. We sincerely request from every one of our visitors, to take a few minutes and leave a comment on the following page!submitComment;D=FDA-2012-N-1148-0011. If electronic cigarettes have made any type of positive impact on your life, please tell the FDA about it.

The FDA is only accepting comments through Wednesday, January 16th, so please hurry!

Katie actually had a negative first experience of electronic cigarettes, picking up a cheap and horrible model from my local mall. Thanks to a chance meeting with co-editor David, she hasn’t had a tobacco cigarette in over 5 years. She brings a strong female voice to the e-cig community.
